Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One packaging will not include a standard headset, although Microsoft says that the headset is "a must-have."
Microsoft has stated that Kinect's "highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences."
So if the Xbox One will use the default Kinect microphone by default, which will more than likely pick up your TV's audio, prepare for Call of Duty pre-game lobbies being littered with super annoying non-headset wearing gamers with their TVs turned up. Awesome.
The standard Xbox One headset will be available seperately, as well as Turtle Beach and Polk Audio headphones.
For the record, Sony will not bundle a headset with their hardware, either.
The Xbox One will launch in November for $499.
