Threat Detection Grenades and Mobile Barricades and Exoskeletons, oh my! This isn’t your granddaddy’s war.
This year’s Call of Duty already has a lot of things going for it. Not only is Advanced Warfare the first game in the series that has been specifically developed for next-gen consoles from the very beginning, but it’s also got Kevin Spacey in it. What more could you ask?
Well you could ask for fancy high-tech gadgets and weapons, actually. And today’s new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare shows off exactly what kind of futuristic arsenal you’ll have at your disposal come November.
First we have the Threat Detection Grenade, which is used to reveal enemy positions in the immediate vicinity, even those who might be hiding behind walls. The Mobile Barricade is a giant glass shield, which automatically follows your movement patterns and protects you after syncing with it. There is also a new line of energy-directed weapons, and vehicles like the Hoverbike and Hovertank.
All of these amazing gadgets and weapons in the game are actually based on technology that we have at our disposal today, although obviously intensified to meet those Call of Duty standards. If not, I’d be rising around on my very own Hoverbike right now.
Exoskeleton suit allows players to jump higher, run faster, engage cloaking abilities, and throw people further. And that’s all without even mentioning the Exoskeleton’s special abilities, such as Overdrive, which essentially functions as a slow-down timer.
All of these new weapons and powers are said to completely redefine the way we play Call of Duty, and I for one can’t wait to see what else the game has in store. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, and will be released on November 4, 2014 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
