You turn a corner, and it's not a terrorist waiting to peg you in the head, it's a zombie ready to chew your neck off!
Korean developer Nexon has announced Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies, a zombie-centric spin-off of the godly shooter series. It will be a free-to-play shooter with an emphasis on disruptive zombies that will more than likely break the nerve-racking rhythm the franchise is known for.
The game will arrive Q3 2014 on Steam.
Nexon previously worked on Counter-Strike Online 2, a Korean F2P version of the series, which also included a zombie mode. So Nexon has done this before, which is at least a good sign.
This is what their zombie gameplay in CSO 2looks like:
I'm sure this is different from anything you are used to from this franchise. Although this game is a bit late to the zombie party, Counter-Strikefans might love it...just because it's Counter-Strike?
Nexon said about the new game:
Expanding one of the top first-person shooter (FPS) titles across the world, Nexon teamed up with Valve to unleash a new zombie-themed, free-to-play CS title featuring new game modes, creatures, and more.
Now, the CS world is about to be infected with the introduction of the ultimate game-changer: Zombies. Fast-paced, frenetic action awaits, as a wide variety of new weapons are added to the fray, with diverse game modes available, featuring countless undead. The zombies in the game are quick, aggressive, and dangerous, which makes for a completely new experience.
In addition to the new zombie based experience, players can also have the original Counter-Strike experience, through modes like Hostage Rescue and Bomb Diffusion, which makes strategic intelligence more important than ever. All modes of play feature the now legendary, adrenaline-pumping CS action.
Shrug. You tell me what you think.
