The tie-in survival game features new visuals and gameplay, and is set to release later this fall.
Deep Silver has revealed the release date for Escape Dead Islandthis morning, the upcoming spin-off to their popular Dead Islandfranchise. The eccentric survival mystery game with a mighty helping of zombies will be available on November 18 in North America and November 21 everywhere else, for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
While the main games in the Dead Island franchise are gritty first-person action games, including the upcoming next-gen Dead Island 2, Escape Dead Island seeks to shake up the formula in more than a few ways. For one thing, the game features lush cel-shaded visuals and a third-person perspective. Perhaps more surprisingly, the gameplay itself falls more in line with an action-adventure game, and there are even said to be a few Legend of Zelda-type elements thrown in for good measure.
To round out the announcement, Deep Silver has also offered up a pretty good deal for Dead Island fans: pre-order Escape Dead Island and get guaranteed access to the upcoming Dead Island 2 beta. There is no other information at this time concerning the Dead Island 2 beta, but we can expect to learn more when the game prepares to launch sometime in 2015.
