A swarm of new details, screenshots, and space-bear blood have emerged for the mysterious new indie game.
In the spirit of PAX Prime, beloved indie developer The Behemoth has unleashed a swell of new details on their upcoming Game 4, which is still the working title at the moment. It has been known that Game 4 would focus on an entirely different genre for The Behemoth, and that much already rings true. After perfecting the co-op brawler with Castle Crashers and the fast-paced platformer with BattleBlock Theater, Game 4 will be a turn-based strategy game with elements of co-op and adventure abound.
Game 4 will be set in a modern-day universe that houses various medieval tropes, such as the first player-character Horatio, whose family gets murdered by a group of menacing marauders. The actual gameplay is built around a hexagonal grid, with a wide array of attacks to harness (not to mention the magic space-bear blood that periodically rains down upon the battlefield). While The Behemoth aims to make Game 4 a “streamlined” version of the traditional turn-based strategy game, they’ll still be employing some more in-depth concepts, such as equipment weight and levelling up your fighters.

In addition to Game 4’s main single-player mode, the quirky turn-based strategy game will also feature a two-player cooperative mode, as well as 2v2 competitive play. And while the gameplay might be vastly different from anything The Behemoth has worked on before, Game 4 still has the charmingly unique artistry of Dan Paladin that should make any fan of the developer feel right at home. While there’s no release date to speak of just yet (what did you expect? The game doesn’t even have a name yet!), we can expect to play Game 4 on Xbox One and PC.
