Buyers of Xbox 360 and PS3 copies of Destiny are being offered free upgrades to the current gen version...
Destinyarrives in stores today, to much fanfare from those eager to get stuck into Bungie's latest IP, and it does so on two generations of console. If you've not got a current gen Xbox One or PS4, you'll no doubt be grabbing the game on Xbox 360 or PS3. What if, however, you plan on getting a current gen console soon?
Well, if you plan on buying a new console before January 15 2015, which is likely for many with Christmas approaching, then you'll be very happy to know that Bungie is offering free upgrades for those who buy the last gen incarnation of Destiny.
The upgrade offer is limited to digital editions of the game, and those who buy the game digitally on last gen will be able to log on to their new current gen platforms and download Destinyfor free. What's more, the last gen version of the game will remain active and playable too, so you essentially get two games for the price of one. Not bad. Not bad at all.
You don't even need to worry about losing your progress through the game, or your character, as this will transfer over to the current gen version. However, once this information has been ported to the new game, you'll no longer be able to access it from your old console.
The upgrade offer relates to the core game, the Digital Guardian Edition, and the expansion pass. So, if you were planning on getting a new console, and were waiting until then for Destiny, there's now no reason to put it off. You may as well buy it anyway.
