Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami still has what it takes to make us all squirm.
There’s a lot of horrifying stuff going on in The Evil Within, that much is clear. Bethesda Softworks has just released a new trailer for the upcoming horror game in celebration of this year’s Tokyo Game Show, and the latest look at Shinji Mikami’s unnerving new project is writhing will all kinds of uncomfortable imagery and seriously twisted visuals.
The majority of the trailer focuses on protagonist Sebastian Castellanos fleeing down a long hallway from an unseen enemy, which brings to mind the heart-pounding escapes in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. There is also a nice mix of cutscenes and gameplay snippets all spliced into the quick minute and a half montage.
The Evil Within will be released on October 14, 2014 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. You can preorder the game today on the official Evil Within website to gain access to The Fighting Chance Pack, a special DLC that might make the going a little easier with special healing items and a double barrel shotgun.
