Remember The P.T.? Well, that was actually a teaser for Silent Hills. Now there's a new trailer. We watched it. Still scary.
The P.T. was a horrifying bit of survival horror, whose rules weren't apparent until DAYS after people had finally defeated the demo. The ending revealed the truth about the little game: it was actually a teaser for Silent Hills, a new installment directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. After playing the demo and reading more about the new game, I have a feeling Silent Hills will be Kojima's magnum opus.
Now, we get a disturbing trailer, courtesy of the Tokyo Game Show:
This a concept trailer, which illustrates the game's general direction. It looks the new Silent Hill will return to its themes of fatherhood, as Norman Reedus gets thrust into a world of creepy children and deranged zombie mothers. Again, we're shown the house from the demo. One has to wonder how much influence Kojima's game will take from SH4: The Room, which had a noble concept that stepped away from the usual "mysteriously wandered into Silent Hill" setup that was so prominent in past games.
However this new game takes shape, it's going to ruin my life all over again.
