Nintendo's latest Direct kicks off with a big announcement for Zelda fans, and that's the remaster of The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the 2DS and 3DS. This will arrive in Spring 2015. It brings back the darkest chapter in the series, with improved visuals and 3D support.

The next new title is Codename Steam, from the developer of the Fire Emblem series. An action, turn-based strategy title, this looks very much like Sega's Valkyria Chronicles, but features a steampunk story that pits Abraham Lincoln and a group of soldiers, against an alien force.

Ultimate NES Remix is on the way to the 3DS with new content, such as the Famicom Remix, and the game supports online leaderboards, which fits in with the game's focus on challenges. It'll be available on December 5.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was up next on Wii U, with a trailer demonstrating the variety of worlds you'll be able to explore in Toad's adventure, and to coincidence with the launch of Super Smash Bros. Wii U on November 21, the new Amiibo figures will also debut, and the system is set to carry over to other titles, including Mario Kart 8.

Kirby returns next, in a claymation-style platform adventure. This uses the 3DS' stylus as a game mechanic that lets you guide Kirby buy drawing pathways for him to follow. The game also has a final, official title, and that's Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. It'll also support Amiibo, as will Hyrule Warriors.

A few indie titles were also highlighted, including Stealth Inc., Shovel Knight, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and Art of Balance.

Xenoblade Chronicles X looks great, and this Direct featured more information on the game, including your home base of New Los Angeles and the hunting system, as well as the wide range of missions, side missions, and other content. It'll arrive on Wii U in 2015.

Finally, we have Splatoon, one of the most interesting new IPs from Nintendo in a while. A new trailer shows of some gameplay, as well as the very Dalek-like Octopus enemies. It's all pure Nintendo fun, and the quirky plaint-filled action looks great.

On the whole, it's another decent showing for Nintendo, with some strong titles and features, but it also comes with a sad sign of the times. Nintendo was one of the few companies to shun the trend of DLC content, but with this latest Direct, it's clear that this is no more, and a lot of paid DLC is featured, meaning that even Nintendo isn't immune to holding back content to make a bit of extra cash.
