Telltale Games is collaborating with Mojang for Minecraft: Story Mode.
Telltale Games has announced that it will collaborate with Mojang on the new Minecraft: Story Mode, an adaptation of the gaming phenomenon with Telltale's signature storytelling. Match made in heaven? A little weird? You decide.
But it's no secret that Minecraft has offered up countless hours of epic gaming for its players since the game's release in 2009. It's mix of fortress-building and survival mode has hit the industry by storm and its been a staple ever since. All that's been missing (if that's your opinion) is a story mode.
Mojang said in the announcement about the new game:
Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale in collaboration with Mojang. Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices.
Telltale's game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraftexperience, inspired by the Minecraftcommunity and the game that continues to inspire a generation.
Like all of Telltale's other current series -- The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, and The Wolf Among Us -- the story will be told in episodes.
The game will be out on consoles and PC some time in 2015.
