Capcom is using Epic Games' brand new Unreal Engine to develop Street Fighter V.

Just to get a sense of how important the Unreal Engine is to the gaming industry, take a look at the games that have been developed using a version of the engine: Batman Arkham, Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, BioShock, Borderlands, Mass Effect, the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, and plenty more classics.

Add to the list: Capcom's Street Fighter V. Is it a little odd that Capcom is using the same engine as its main American competitor's upcoming release? Maybe. But Unreal tends to serve fighting games very well, so it's probably a very good move. Bandai Namco's Tekken 7 is also using the engine.

"Our goal with the next generation of Street Fighteris to take our beloved fighting game franchise and bring it to our fans in the best way possible," said Bochan Kim, producer at Capcom, in a press release from Epic. "In order to fully deliver on that promise, we know we have to incorporate the latest and greatest technology available, which is why we partnered with Epic Games to power Street Fighter V using Unreal Engine 4."

It looks like Street Fighter V is coming together nicely. More on this title as we learn it!
