The Zelda-like action RPG, Darksiders 2, is moving to current gen, according to an Amazon leak...
NewsDarksidershas its fans, although not nearly enough in my opinion. It's a very underrated gem of a series that successfully delivers a more adult take on the Zeldaformula, whilst remaining true to the central gameplay tenants made popular by Nintendo's masterpiece series, and it may well be returning to our screens soon.
Darksidersis centred around the battle between the forces of Heaven and Hell, and sees the Four Horsemen, specifically War (in Darksiders), and Death (Darksiders 2) dragged into the whole thing, with War being blamed for breaking the seal of the apocalypse, and causing the end of mankind. In the second game, his brother, Death, attempts to save War from his fate.
Both games followed the Zeldastyle impeccably (with a sprinkle of Metroidvania), but utilised a comic book style, designed by Joe Madureira (Uncanny X-Men), who served as the creative director. This created a vibrant and violent world full of demons, angels, and monsters. It used all sorts of items, weapons, and power-ups, many of which were needed to access parts of the world, often to access many of the game's bosess.
It was great, but the series was feared doomed after the fall of THQ, and little news about the franchise afterwards. New owner, Nordic Games, may be brining it back to life, though, at least according to a posting on Amazon.
The online retailer has listed Darksiders 2: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 4. The price is listed as $39.99, with a release date currently set at December 31, 2015. No other information is present.
Quite what a Definitive Edition will entail is unknown, but it's a safe bet to say it'll include all of the game's DLC and a HD visual overhaul. If we're really lucky, we may even get the original game packaged in, but that may be wishful thinking.
