A couple images have been making the rounds, revealing that the new generation of Kombatants will have parental supervision.
NewsThe roster for Mortal Kombat X is starting to shape up more and more. Recently, it was announced that the game would be ported – sort of – to mobile devices, much like how NetherRealm Studios has been doing simplified, card-based fighters like Injustice: Gods Among Us and WWE Immortals. Of the official images tossed out there, one includes none other than Kenshi, blind swordsman and pretty much the best thing to come out of the post-Mortal Kombat 3 era.

As you can see, Kenshi has a variation called “Possessed.” He also has a nice beard and, if you look really closely, you can see that his trademarked sword is broken into pieces. Yet it appears that Kenshi is able to keep his sword together via telepathy and can probably wield it like normal. Sweet.
Now, I wouldn’t say this is 100% confirmation that he’ll be in the console versions of Mortal Kombat X. The Injusticemobile game featured Darkseid and Static, two characters exclusive to that version. It could very well be that Kenshi is another go on that idea. That would be lame.
Then again, Kenshi does have a fairly prominent role in the Mortal Kombat X prequel comic. Not only does he star in the first issue, but it’s implied that Kenshi is a major hero in the Netherrealm War, especially since he’s responsible for Scorpion turning against his demonic side and joining the heroes. In the leaked casting list for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X web series, Kenshi is mentioned quite a bit in his son Takeda’s role description. The two will be working together and Takeda has some serious abandonment issues when it comes to his father.
Not that I can really blame him. Kenshi wasn’t even aware he had a son in the first place, then when he finally finds and meets him, he immediately drops him off at Scorpion’s pad and runs off again. Cool hero, but a bit of a rolling stone.
Speaking of parents, Kenshi isn’t the only older character who appears to be making a comeback. The next bit take as RUMOR until we can confirm...This image, which appears to be a still from story mode, was leaked just recently. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out the source of it, but it’s a pretty big smoking gun. We have Jax, Sonya Blade, and Johnny Cage 25 years later.

“LK-4D4” is Cyrax’s model number, by the way. Cute reference.
These three have been all-but-confirmed for a while (and since we don't have official confirmation, I suppose they're all-but-confirmed right now too). In the video where they discussed how online factions will work, fans insisted on seeing what appeared to be Jax’s image on the challenge tower. In one version of the video, the Special Forces faction was represented by what looked to be a picture of Sonya (though it was arguable that it was just an alternate outfit for her daughter Cassie). As for Johnny, he’s set to be the main character in that web series with Casper Van Dien reprising the role. It would be weird to go through all that trouble when he isn't even in the game.
All three have shown up in the comic in one way or another. Jax has merely been shown training with his daughter Jacqueline. Sonya has dealt with Kotal Kahn and his entourage, coming to blows with D’Vorah and even nearly killing Kotal. Johnny appears in the latest issue with it explained that with Liu Kang dead, Johnny became Raiden’s champion and has kept at it for the past few decades.
And there you have it. Not only will Mortal Kombat X feature the next generation of mass murderers, but their parents appear to be there as well. Just with some more wrinkles and Sonya’s covered up. Hopefully we’ll get some footage to satiate us soon. In the meantime, here’s a leaked image of Jax’s in-game model.

Johnny’s like the only older guy who hasn’t grown a beard. Jax, Kenshi, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao... Man. I'd bet Ermac's mask is hiding a soul patch.
