Harmonix is working on a new Rock Band, and has announced the fourth iteration of the series...
NewsConsidered by many to be the best example of the music genre that was so popular towards the end of the 2000s, Harmonix's Rock Bandset the bar very high as far as band games go. With three major instalments already out there, as well as the excellent Beatles edition, not to mention thousands of DLC songs, it's still a very popular party game, and hardcore fans still strum away on their plastic guitars late into the night.
Sadly, the bottom fell out of the genre's market due to over saturation, and we've not seen much from either Rock Band, or its major competition, Guitar Hero. That's about the change, however, as Harmonix has teamed up with Mad Catz to release Rock Band 4.
Now being developed without the input of major publishers, and instead as more of an indie title, theRock Band team is free to make the game everything it wants it to be, and is planning to incorporate new features that'll change the game in some very important ways. And, for those who've already got existing instruments, and have spent money on tons of previous DLC, Rock Band 4 will support them, as Harmonix is working on porting all old content into the new title.
The game will be released indifferent forms, including a standard game and guitar bundle, and the 'Band-in-a-Box' bundle, which includes the game, guitar, drum kit and microphone. A new, updated set of instruments is being developed for the game by Mad Catz.
Rock Band 4will drop later in the year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so check out the below video to see what Harmonix has to say about the new release.
