Sony Santa Monica has announced that a remastered, 1080p version of God Of War III is heading to PS4 this summer...
NewsTo be honest, it only feels like a few months since we last slashed our way through the bloodthirsty God Of War III - so imagine our surprise when we suddenly realised that it's just over five years since the Grecian brawler was first released.
At any rate, Santa Monica Studio is readying a new, remastered version of God Of War III, which it says will run at a silky-smooth 60fps at a resolution of 1080p. There are some sharper, higher-res textures on Kratos and his array of enemies, though the original release wasn't exactly bad-looking in any case. The real draw is probably the smoother frame-rate, which should add a bit more clarity and flow to the combat. Oh, and the studio's also throwing in a photo mode, which is nice.
If you're becoming slightly bewildered at all the remakes hitting consoles recently, don't worry - Santa Monica Studio has stated that it has "no plans" to make more revised versions of its previous games. The studio's Aaron Kaufman has said that they serve a useful purpose, though; "Remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God Of War IIIfive years ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4."
God Of War III Remasteredcould therefore serve as a current-gen reintroduction, paving the way for the sequel the full-blown studio is currently working on. Will Kratos make a return? We'll just have to wait and see.
God Of War III Remastered is out on the 14th July for the PlayStation 4.
