NewsGame of Thrones season five is almost here, but the third episode of Telltale’s Game of Thrones game, “The Sword in the Darkness,” will arrive first. Set to debut later this week, the new game picks up after the last two installments as part three of six interactive episodes that take place in the HBO series’ universe.
Acting as an extensively imagined side quest to the George R.R. Martin “A Song of Ice and Fire” mythology, Telltale’s Game of Thrones continues the story of the House Forrester with Asher enjoying his forced exile in Meereen where he looks for an army, but may have to settle with finding….dragons.
Meanwhile, political intrigue continues to heat up in King’s Landing where Mira is forced to perform espionage on Lannister loyalists if she is to save her Northern family. But in Ironrath, Gryff Whitehill leads a brutal occupation of the Forrester stronghold, pushing the remainders of the family to make difficult choices, not least of which involves Gared’s unenviable position of remaining loyal to family or his Night’s Watch oath.
Given that its title is taken from the Night’s Watch oath, we imagine that Gared’s decision will play a significant role in this installment.
Episode three of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC/Mac on March 24th. It will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on March 25th, and on iOS and Android devices come March 26th.
