Turtle Rock's four-on-one shooter Evolve is getting a bit of a rebalance, as a new patch tones down the Wraith's movement power...
NewsReleased in February, Turtle Rock's four-on-one shooter Evolve sees human soldiers take on colossal, powerful aliens. An example of what posh game-dev types call the asymmetrical shooter, Evolve spices up the genre by mixing up the balance of power - is it better to be a big target with lots of strength and special abilities, or part of a small, less powerful team with tactics and precise weaponry at its disposal?
Balance has been Evolve's key to success from the very beginning, and Turtle Rock are still making tweaks to the game to get it completely fine-tuned.
As a result, a new patch - which is out now for PC and out next week for Playstation 4 and Xbox One - makes a few alterations to the giant monster, the Wraith.
Patch 1. 3 reduces the Wraith's warp speed by 25 percent, takes down the duration of her Supernova attack by 50 percent, while her Warp blast has also been taken down a notch.
The patch makes a few changes elsewhere, too: the effect of Tranq darts on the Kraken have been altered, for example, while human characters like Markov have been re-balanced. The changes come as a response to player feedback, and Turtle Rock will no doubt be keeping a close eye on players' subsequent responses to see whether the tweaks have done the trick.
