Newcomer Kung Jin is our only hope in stopping former heroes Kung Lao and Liu Kang from destroying reality in this new trailer.
TrailerA new trailer has hit the scene for Mortal Kombat X, which will be on store shelves in only 19 days. Much like how we got a Cage Family trailer a few weeks ago that focused on Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and next generation character Cassie Cage, this one has the theme of Shaolin. It focuses on the classic Shaolin warriors Liu Kang and Kung Lao as well as new character Kung Jin. This is also the first actual footage we’ve been shown of Liu Kang in action.
The trailer’s from MAXIM Russia, so the text is a bit on the foreign side.
Nice look at two never-before-seen Fatalities, including Liu Kang going all Roadhouseon Raiden.
Liu Kang and Kung Lao are Raiden’s two biggest failures back to haunt him from beyond the grave. In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden was responsible for their deaths, albeit he was more hands on with Liu Kang. Not only did he accidentally drive Liu to madness, but he also kind of fried him to death with electricity. Even though Liu’s now a revenant working for Quan Chi, he looks to retain enough of his personality and is still calling out Raiden for his ineptitude.
Kung Lao and his cousin Kung Jin have been established prior to this, but more footage of them is always welcome. It’s worth noting the quick cameo appearance by Bo’ Rai Cho, the drunk master who trained all three characters.
Going by the pattern, we’re likely going to see a trailer soon of Scorpion, Kenshi, and Takeda as well as Jax, Jacqueline Briggs, and...I don’t know, Kano? Sub-Zero? I’m not sure who the right third wheel would be in that situation.
