Ninja warriors, excited city dwellers, and System of a Down come together for this new Mortal Kombat X commercial. FIIIGHT!
TrailerIf a hate-filled demon ninja with a skull head was having a bloody fight to the death with his ice ninja archenemy and you’re in the vicinity, I’d suggest maybe running away. Get the hell out of there or you might get a stray spear shoved through your shoulder or your foot might get frozen and shatter. That’s just me, though. Certainly not the citizens in this Mortal Kombat XTV spot.
That was pretty neat. Love the inclusion of System of a Down’s “Chop Suey” and the expert use of, “WAKE UP!”
Once the game portion of the trailer kicks in, we get some footage of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Takeda, Jacqui Briggs, D’Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Quan Chi, and Kitana. Just not a lot of impact moves because, you know, this is supposed to be shown on TV and stuff.
The commercial feels very similar to the original Mortal Kombat commercial from the early 90s, only with a sense of humor and not in-your-face teenagers running around without any context whatsoever.
Still, if you ask me, nothing will ever top the Mortal Kombat IIcommercial. I’m not even talking about in terms of Mortal Kombat commercials. I’m talking video game commercials in general.
Oh, yeah. That’s the stuff.
