The ninja bandit with a heart of gold is returning to the King of Iron Fist tournament and he's brought some extra limbs with him.
TrailerTekken 7 is still churning out the time-released characters in the Japanese arcades and now we’ve hit one of the classic mainstays. Yoshimitsu is back and he certainly looks...different, to say the least. Now looking like some kind of cybernetic Kit Fisto, Yoshimitsu will be available to play as starting on May 12.
Get a load of him in this new trailer.
I dig that his Rage Art is lifted from the way he tends to kill Bryan Fury in Yoshimitsu’s various endings from previous games. Coincidentally, the clip has him use it on Bryan himself. Nice touch.
Yoshimitsu has been part of Tekkensince the first game and has appeared in every iteration, as well as most of the Soul Calibur games (via an ancestor...I think). The Robin Hood-like ninja warrior has constantly changed up his look, appearing stranger and stranger by the game. In the first Tekken, he wore an oni mask that at the very least separated him from the rest of the cast, but wasn’t too weird. By the second game, he wore a different mask and a straw hat, which again wasn’t too out there. In Tekken 3, he was some kind of inexplicable Predator-looking thing, which they went on to reuse in Tekken Tag Tournament and Street Fighter X Tekken. Then in Tekken 4, he was a skeleton with beetle armor and wings. He had different looks in Tekken 5, Tekken 6, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which all relied on big, bulky, detailed samurai armor and crazy masks.
Now the evolution continues with him having a squid head and gross armor ribs. If it was anyone else, I’d be surprised.
Still no word on when this game will reach America. Keep an eye out at Den of Geek for more Tekken 7announcements.
