Survival horror prequel Resident Evil Zero is getting a HD remaster for PC and consoles - it's due out in 2016...
NewsWhether you approve of the current appetite for HD remakes or not, there's no denying their success. Take the recent Resident Evil reissue, for example - according to Capcom, it sold over a million copies and became one of its fastest-selling digital-only games.
With success like that, it's little surprise that Capcom's delving further into its back catalog. The company's announced that Resident Evil Zero, the prequel to the 1996 original, is the latest game to get the remaster treatment.
Originally released for the GameCube in 2002 before getting a port to the Wii in 2008, Resident Evil Zero let players "partner zap" between the game's protagonists - medic Rebecca Chambers and ex-soldier Billy Coen.
Resident Zero's original director Koji Oda's returning to oversee the remake, which is due out in 2016. Capcom's keeping its bases covered in terms of systems, too - Resident Evil Zero is being developed for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Oh, and this isn't the end of Capcom's trip through its archives, either. According to this Q&A dug up by Polygon, HD remakes will be one of Capcom's "key business activities" in years to come.
A HD remake of Cannon Spike, anyone?
