Platinum Games, the creators of Bayonetta, are preparing to show off a new title at E3 this weekend. Update: it might be Vanquish 2...
NewsUpdate: When we heard that Platinum Games was preparing to unveil a new game at this year's E3, we didn't dare believe it would be a sequel to 2011's Vanquish. But that might just be what we're in for.
Posted by Platinum in the early hours of the morning in UK time was this teasing tweet:
Here’s a Boost to help you through Wednesday. pic.twitter.com/hmtuANRBWT

This, quite clearly, is an image from Vanquish - or maybe even an early screenshot from a forthcoming sequel. Given the timing, it certainly seems reasonable to assume that the previously unnamed title due to be revealed at E3 really is Vanquish 2.
In case you've never played it, Vanquish was a fast-paced sci-fi shooter where you could boost around the battlefield with a jetpack. It was a blast to play, but we'd always assumed that it was a cult hit rather than a financial blockbuster. With that one tweet, it now looks as though we really could be getting a sequel to that hectic 2011 blaster.
More news on this as it comes in. In the meantime, here's what the original Vanquish looked and played like.
Original Story 06.09.15: Japanese developer Platinum Games has brought us some genuine cult classics in recent years. The Bayonetta games were frantic, rock-hard beat-em-ups. Wonderful 101 was a flawed, yet engaging action exclusive for the Wii U.Vanquish was a wild third-person shooter thrillride, while the barking-mad spin-off Metal Gear Rising gave the studio its biggest hit to date.
It's now being reported that Platinum has a brand new game on the way - one that hasn't previously been announced. According to IGN, this rules out Scalebound, the fantasy action game it first unveiled at last year's E3, which is being put together by director Hideki Kamiya.
This seems to suggest, then, that Platinum's working on two major projects at once, though what this second game might be is currently a mystery. Could it be a sequel to Metal Gear Rising? Forunately, we won't have to wait too long to find out what it is - Platinum's set to unveil their latest game at E3 on June 16 during Nintendo Direct.
