If you were hoping for a version of Street Fighter V on Xbox One, then Capcom has some bad news...
NewsStreet Fighter V is due out next March, and marks the first numbered sequel since 2008. It's being developed for PC and PlayStation 4, but that hasn't stopped some fans of the series from thinking that a version for the Xbox One might follow further down the line.
But an unnamed representative for Capcom has delivered a devastating yoga flame to that theory, and has definitively confirmed thatStreet Fighter V - and the updates that will come out after it - will remain exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
"One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter V is going to come out on Xbox," the Capcom rep told Gamespot. "But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run."
So that's put paid to that. But for PlayStation 4 owners, the rep goes on to hint that Capcom's deal with Sony could lead to some interesting post-release stuff appearing in the not-too-distant future.
"We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past," the rep continued. "The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value."
Street Fighter V is out in March 2016.
