Microsoft's face of E3 has left Microsoft just weeks after this year's Xbox One reveal...

Microsoft's former Entertainment and Devices leader has left the company to become the new CEO of Zynga, the social gaming company.  According to a press release, Mattrick will head to his new position effective Monday, July 8, 2013.

"I joined Zynga because I believe that Mark's pioneering vision and mission to connect the world through games is just getting started," said Mattrick. "Zynga is a great business that has yet to realize its full potential. I'm proud to partner with Mark to deliver high-quality, fun, social games wherever people want to play."

Zynga just recently laid off 520 employees (18% of its workforce) and founder, Mark Pincus, vowed to refocus on mobile gaming. Apparently, Mattrick shares that same vision.

Interestingly enough, there is no comment from Microsoft regarding the situation, nor is there a comment from Mattrick about leaving Microsoft.
