Telltale's adventure game based on Minecraft has its first trailer. Here's an early look at Minecraft: Story Mode...
NewsDeveloped by Telltale, the studio behind such hits as The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands, Minecraft: Story Mode will be a narrative-driven spin-off from Mojang's survival sandbox phenomenon.
The project was announced late last year - not long after Mojang was acquired by Microsoft in a multi-billion-dollar deal - but it's only now that we've been given our first glimpse of what Story Mode has in store. The game's first trailer was unveiled at MineCon - arguably geekdom's boxiest fan convention - and it introduces Story Mode's roster of new characters, voiced by such celebrity names as Patton Oswalt, Paul Reubens, Corey Feldman, and Billy West.
Story Mode will also take in lots of familiar locations from the main game - the Never, the End, and the Farlands have all been announced. While we don't yet know what puzzles or action we'll find in Story Mode, it's clear that a lot of time's been spent on making the game look authentically Minecraft-y.
Minecraft: Story Mode is due out later in 2015 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, iOS and Android.
