The newest warrior in the next chapter of Street Fighter is Rashid of the turbulent wind. He has a Dragon Ball Z scouter. I don't know why.

Trailer

As we get closer and closer to the early 2016 release of Street Fighter V, the initial roster is starting to become more and more realized. We’ve seen the series regulars like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Cammy. We’ve seen the more obscure returns like Birdie and Rainbow Mika. Every once and a while they toss us a new character, such as the wild man Necalli.

Now we have another new character in the game with Rashid, a wind-based warrior who looks pretty damn fun. Watch him in action here:

Man, look at him go!

Not much is known about the series’ new spinny, rolly, jetpack-wearing competitor. Revealed at the GAMES 15 convention in Dubai over the weekend, Capcom’s touted Rashid as the first Middle-Eastern Street Fightercharacter, which is true depending on whether or not you count the Street Fighter EX series.

While there are no real details on what his deal is (or why he’s wearing the Dragon Ball Z eye doohickey), apparently when he defeats M. Bison in-game, he demands his friend back. Dollars to donuts says he’s buddies with Charlie Nash and isn’t too happy with his current, stitched-up form.

Rashid is the eleventh character announced for Street Fighter V. The game will launch with sixteen in total while extra names will trickle out over time. You can either pay for the downloadable content or you can just unlock the characters through in-game means. Capcom’s stated that unlike all the other Street Fighter games, there will not be upgraded releases (ie. no Super Street Fighter V). It’s just going to be regular updates to the original game.

Street Fighter V will be released the first quarter of 2016 for PlayStation 4 and windows.

Gavin Jasper notices that this is the second time a fighting game has given us a character named Rashid who has whirlwind powers. Oh, Mace: The Dark Age. How we miss you. Follow Gavin on Twitter!
