We don't have a release date for Final Fantasy XV, but we do know when the date will be announced. Either way, it's coming this year!
We only have to wait until March to get a solid release date for the highly-anticipated, long-gestating Final Fantasy XV, the next main installment in the classic JRPG series. According to the game's director, Hajime Tabata, the game will definitely arrive in 2016.
Said Tabata in Japanese game magazine Famitsu:
"This year is the year we'll release Final Fantasy XV. Currently, we've decided on all of its specifications and the beta version is under production so we can shift into the debug phase. We'll show the real XVduring the release date announcement this March."
Additionally, Tabata said in a Square Enix developer blog post about the continued work on the game:
I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft. We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.
The whole FFXV team appreciates all of the support from each and everyone one of you this past year. I cannot tell you how much it means to all of us.
You don't have to wait until March to hear more about the game, though. The next Active Time Report broadcast, where Square Enix announces new info about Final Fantasy projects, will air some time this month.
