We have our first screenshot from the game. What does it reveal? Not much, except that there seem to be female characters in this one. The game will also retreat from Mount Massive Asylum for what seems like a more rural setting.

Red Barrels also confirmed via Twitter that the game will indeed step out of Mount Massive Asylum for an all-new setting:

Outlast 2 Trailer
The first trailer for Outlast II is insane, even if it doesn't actually feature any gameplay or really anything at all...except a burning cross and the voice of a mad preacher who is telling us about the horrific things to come. We're so excited/terrified!

Outlast 2 Release Date
The first trailer for Outlast II promised us a Fall 2016 release. That's a long wait, but it will be quite the Halloween treat...We're guessing this one will come out in October of next year!
Outlast 2 Confirmed
Red Barrels, developer of the infamous horror game Outlast, have confirmed that they're working on a sequel. It should come as no surprise since the first game was so incredibly well-received by fans and critics. Although I'm not sure how anyone could get past how damn terrifying the game is.
Co-founder Philippe Morin confirmed development to Bloody Disgusting, "After shipping the XB1 version of Outlast, we took some time to analyze our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us. So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2."
Morin did not mention a possible release date, and it's probably too early for all that business. We probably won't see a new Outlast game until 2016.

You’ll encounter instances of cannibalism at every turn, with a new enemy who screams “FEED ME!” as he chases you down the claustrophobic corridors with a buzz saw. You’ll see a crazed inmate masturbating over a pile of dead bodies. And then of course, there is the confrontation with a new adversary called The Groom, which leads into one of the most unnerving and utterly shocking POV moments in the entire horror genre at large.
