Much-loved Star Wars game Knights Of The Old Republic is being remade in Unreal Engine 4. Here's a first look at Apeiron...
The fond memories of Knights Of The Old Republic are such that, well over a decade after its initial release, it's still regarded as one of the finest Star Wars games ever made. In fact, the game's still widely available on all kinds of devices, from PC to Android, and even today, ranks among the very best RPGs to emerge from BioWare's creative hive mind.
Meanwhile, a group of gamers called Poem Studios has announced Apeiron, a remake, remaster and reboot of Knights Of The Old Republic, which will add new worlds and missions as well as give the graphics a HD refresh.
Early images from the project show off Tatooine (complete with twin suns), some ship interiors and other futuristic locations. Some images also hint at a first-person mode, though it isn't yet clear whether we'll be able to play through the whole game from this viewpoint.
Because this is an unofficial, fan-made game, it'll be released for free; whether that's enough to keep Disney's lawyers at bay remains to be seen, but we're hoping the team gets Apeiron finished -- we can't wait to see how their polished and expanded KOTOR turns out.
More news on this as we get it. You can check out some images below and the Apeiron site here.
