Telltale Games' Batman premieres this summer. Here's everything we know about the game so far!

Telltale Games has been very busy in the past few years. Major hits like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Tales from the Borderlands have raised the studio's profile and earned them the attention of comic book giants Marvel and DC. In the last year, both publishers have handed over the keys to Telltale for the episodic treatment.

As for Telltale's DC offering, the upcoming game obviously features Batman, who's become the publisher's biggest cash cow in pretty much every sector of entertainment. The latest on the game comes from SXSW, where Telltale revealed that its Batman game would arrive Summer 2016.

Along with this update, Telltale brought just one picture to tease the new game, featuring the script for the first episode:

The developer also revealed additional details about the game, which is simply titled Batman: A Telltale Game Series, during a panel at SXSW. Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner promised "a lot of new Telltale stuff" would be featured in this game.

"It's still a Telltale game, but it will be evolved from what you've seen [from Telltale] before. But I think a more significant step than you've seen from any of our products in the past, both technologically and creatively, I think there's a lot of really cool things going into Batman," Bruner said.

Bruner also revealed that the game will feature as much Bruce Wayne as Batman and that the developer expected many players to play through the game with as little Batman as possible.

"Certain key situations will give the player the decision to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman, with consequences for both sides,"Telltale said in a blog post.

As far as characters, Telltale said that Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya will be featured in the game. No details on the villains.

Speaking with IGN, TQ Jefferson, exec producer at Telltale, revealed that the team had looked at many of the best aspects of Batman's 75-year history. The game takes influence from Bob Kane and Bill Finger's original work, as well as things like Jim Lee's art, Frank Miller's Dark Knight books, Neal Adams' action scenes, and things as recent as Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's stories. There's even stuff from the Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton movies.

No exact story details were revealed, but Jefferson did say that the game was closest to Snyder and Capullo's run on the character, citing their fresh perspective on the character as something that inspired Telltale's story.

Here's the trailer that premiered at last year's Game Awards:
