According to a financial report, Nintendo is developing a "next-gen" handheld codenamed "MH."
For the past year, Nintendo has been busy keeping its top-secret new console, the NX, under wraps. The NX won't even make an appearance at this year's E3, even though the console is set to release in early 2017. But while we've been feverishly waiting for the NX, it looks like Nintendo has been sneaking another hardware project: a handheld codenamed "MH."
According to a Yahoo Japan financial report (via IGN), Nintendo is developing the new handheld alongside the NX. Not many details were revealed about the handheld in the report except that it would be a major focus of Nintendo's financial future, along with its console counterpart.
Says a translation of the report, "The driving force up until now has been new business from 'health services, theme parks, and mobile games, etc,' but will switch over to the next generation game system 'NX' and next-gen handheld game device 'MH' (temporary name)."
It's important to stress that this isn't much to go on and should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, there have been rumors in the past few months that the NX could launch as a portable and home console. While this hasn't been confirmed by Nintendo, MH could be the handheld component.
More on this as we learn it!
