Sony Interactive Entertainment president Andrew House has confirmed the existence of the PlayStation 4 Neo.
Speaking to The Financial Times, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Andrew House has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 Neo is indeed in development as an update to the current PS4 model. The new model will cost more than the current $350 price tag and will be sold alongside the older PS4 model.
"It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4," says House. “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”
House also revealed that the console will not be at this year's E3, citing that the Neo needs more time in development before it's unveiled to the public.
"We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety," said House.
There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the Neo since the concept was first leaked online. Rumored hardware specs include:
- CPU: 8 Jaguar Cores at 2.1 GHz
- GPU: Improved AMD GCN, 36 CUs at 911 MHz
- Memory: 8 GB GDDR5, 218 GB/s
- 4K Image Output
An improved GPU and native 4k resolution are among the highlights of the improved PS4 Neo specs.
