Doctor Strange: Cumberbatch's Cancelled Disney Infinity Figure Leaked

Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange would have had his own Disney Infinity figure. Here are some leaked images of it...

In May, Disney made the decision to cancel its toys-to-life game Disney Infinity - a business decision set to cost the firm millions. Launched in 2013 as a rival to Activision's Skylanders, Disney Infinity's combination of action figures and digital toy box made it a hit at first, though dwindling sales mean that the Finding Dory playset, out this month, will be the series' last.

"After a thorough evaluation, we have modified our approach to console gaming and will transition exclusively to a licensing model," boss James Pitaro said at the time. "This shift in strategy means we will cease production of Disney Infinity, where the lack of growth in the toys-to-life market, coupled with high development costs, has created a challenging business model."

Disney Infinity's creators had lots more figures in mind before the May cancellation, though, including a tie-in figure for this autumn's Doctor Strange. While we'll never actually get our hands on one, the YouTube channel Infiniteer Adventures has managed to get its hands on some leaked work-in-progress images.

If you want to know what the cartoony incarnation of Benedict Cumberbatch's mystical hero would have looked like, check this out:

Doctor Strange opens on November 4. We can't help feeling a little sorry that Cumberbatch won't be getting his own Infinityfigure to go with his debut Marvel movie.
