It looks like Injustice fans that have been waiting patiently to hear what new characters will be joining Injustice 2 will have their wish granted at San Diego Comic-Con.

Injustice 2 director Ed Boon has revealed via his Twitter account that the team will be announcing two new heroes at SDCC 2016. This reveal will occur during the Injustice 2 panel scheduled to take place on Friday, July 22nd. There's currently no word on whether or not these heroes will be entirely new additions to the franchise or returning favorites from the original Injustice. However, the tweet does include two character silhouettes that appear to suggest we'll be getting one female character reveal and one male.

Only a few days after the first announcement trailer for the highly anticipated sequel that pits DC heroes and villains against each other in a battle for control of the multiverse, NetherRealm has unleashed a first look at the actual gameplay:

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios, in a press release. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

In a post on the PlayStation blog, NetherRealm introduced one of those new features in the game (which you can see in the trailer below):

The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents. A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.
