Are they just fans of the show, or is there something much more interesting in the works?
Telltale Games may have just started their first season of Batman with the release of a rather excellent first episode, but the world's most famous choose your own adventure game developer may already have their eyes on a brand new property to tackle.
For some time, the crew behind the Mr. Robot series have been releasing a series of fictional promotional videos from a parody Twitter account that is allegedly operated by a fake technology company called E Corp which exists within the Mr. Robot universe. The fictional app this company is developing promises to be a universal messaging service that will unite the world under its brilliance, which conflicts with the rebellious views of the show's protagonists.
So what does this have to do with Telltale? Well, nothing until today when the developer's Twitter and Facebook pages shared one of the E Corp videos. What's strange about this is that Telltale's social media pages don't typically share unrelated content simply because their social media manager has a personal interest in it. Usually, such promotion is reserved for properties that they may be working with in the future.
There's also the very interesting recent fact that the developer's Twitter account retweeted an article from IGN that speculates on the possibility of Telltale working with the Mr. Robot team on an upcoming project.
Finally, the E Corp page has been teasing the release of their app on August 17th, which only makes Telltale's promotional timing that much more curious. While this is all somewhat speculative, the clues are starting to come together just enough to suggest that Telltale may indeed be planning on working something related to Mr. Robot.
Whether this will be a brand new Telltale game or a side-project to help promote the show's viral marketing campaign is unknown, but fans of both the show and the developer should keep a close eye on this matter come August 17th.
