Find out when you'll be able to fly like an eagle, deduce werewolves, and step onto a Star Trek ship.
Ubisoft continued their virtual reality movement today by revealing the release dates for three of their major upcoming VR titles.
The company's first retail VR experience will be Eagle Flight which is set to launch on October 18th for the Oculus Rift. If you didn't catch this game's reveal earlier in the year, the gist of the experience is that you are an eagle who must suffer the considerable burden of soaring freely around the scenic streets of Paris and the surrounding countryside. More than just an exploration game, Eagle Flight will also task you with competing with other flying eagles for resources as well as mastering the game's unique flight controls. The title was heavily praised for its environment and immersive nature earlier in the year and certainly does seem to be an exceptional example of "showpiece" software that will allow you to really show-off the sensation of using a VR device.
Eagle Flight will also release for PlayStation VR on November 8th, and the HTC Vive on December 20th.
Next up is the highly-anticipated Star Trek: Bridge Crew which will release for Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive on November 20th. This game will allow players to step onto the bridge of a Star Trek starship in order to run it with fellow players in a virtual reality setting. The primary goal of the title seems to be finding a new planet for the Vulcans to call home, but most of the entertainment value of the experience is sure to come from the sensation that you are a fully active participant in one of pop culture's most beloved universes.
The last game on Ubisoft's VR schedule is certainly the most unique of their upcoming projects. It's called Werewolves Within, and it's perhaps best classified as a mystery party game. In it, you will need to deduce which of your campfire compatriots are actually a werewolf by keeping your eyes out for certain actions. The mechanics for doing so are shockingly deep, and should help make Werewolves Within one of the most entertaining VR party games on the horizon.
That game will be released for all three previously noted VR platforms on December 6th.
