Nintendo NX Latest News
Series creator Yuji Horii has confirmed to Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream (via Gematsu) that Dragon Quest XI is currently in development for the Nintendo NX. The game will arrive in Japan on May 27, 2017. No Western release date has been announced.
Dragon Quest XI is the fifth game confirmed for the NX, along with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Project Sonic, Just Dance 2017, and Dragon Quest X, which was also confirmed recently. New Mario and Pokemon games have also been rumored for the console. It remains to be seen how many of these titles, besides Zelda, will actually be NX launch titles.
Nintendo NX Release Date
Nintendo recently released its financial results, and in those reports it's emerged that the NX will now launch in March 2017. Once again, the briefing doesn't give anything away other than the console is a "brand new concept" - three words we originally heard when the NX was announced all those months ago.
So there we have it. Everything we thought we knew has been shattered. There'll be no NX this Christmas.
Speaking at an investor meeting (via NStyles), Nintendo creative fellow Shigeru Miyamoto said that Nintendo did not unveil the NX at this year's E3 for "fear of copycats." Since the announcement that Nintendo was working on a new console, the company has teased that the NX is a "brand new concept."
Miyamoto continued to tease as much to the AP, saying, "In terms of NX, there's an idea that we're working on. That's why we can't share anything at this point, and I don't want to comment on the other companies. If it was just a matter of following advancements in technology, things would be coming out a lot quicker."
Nintendo is keeping the NX very close to the chest for the time being, although we imagine they'll have to unveil it soon if the plan is still to release the console next March.
