Nature and magic join forces in this unique take on the Metroidvania genre.
Looking for a soothing new game trailer to calm your worried mind and insert a bit of tranquility into your day? Developer Mooneye Studios has your remedy in this fresh teaser for their upcoming title Lost Ember.
Mooneye may not sound like a familiar name, but this Hamburg studio has actually been in the mobile development game for the last couple of years. Lost Emberrepresents their first foray into the PC development scene and promises to be the studio's most ambitious effort yet.
Lost Ember doesn't feature much gameplay action, but rather presents a unique, natural world that is just begging to be explored by the game's protagonist; a mystical wolf with the ability to control other animals in the forest. Players will need to use this power in order to explore new areas of the game that would otherwise be inaccessible to just the wolf (such as underwater areas that only a fish can get to) as well as to form new magical paths as seen in the trailer when a mystical light bridge is formed.
By and large, however, Lost Ember is the latest entry into the "Zen Garden" gaming genre that previous titles such as Flower and the recent No Man's Sky have utilized to great effect. Indeed, the draw of Lost Ember is its serene world of magic and more natural wonders that promises to yield all of its secrets to the most adventurous of explorers while everyone else can simply enjoy the splendor of the well-rendered landscape. The developer even promises that you may stumble across a few ancient mysteries hidden in abandoned civilizations.
As of now, Lost Ember is tentatively set to release sometime in 2018, but the developers are planning to launch a Kickstarter page when their newsletter reaches 5,000 subscribers. If you'd like to support them in that effort, you may do so by signing up on their website.
