The new trailer for the Friday the 13th video game is one of the most gruesome things we've ever seen.
Update 1 - 09.06.16:
When a studio hires acclaimed effects artist Tom Savini to executive produce a new Friday the 13thvideo game, you know the game's going to be gruesome and very creative when it comes to murdering teenagers. The new trailer for the game is very NSFW, so maybe watch it during your lunch break. Actually, don't do that, either. It's hard to stomach:
The game is out in October.
Original Story - 01.12.15:
According to EGM, there is a new Friday the 13th game on the way -- the first since 1989's NES games for which you might have less than fond memories. We wrote a bit about that "gem" back in October.
It will be an asymmetrical, cooperative, multiplayer shooter, inspired by the 4v1 craze that's hit the industry by storm since Evolve entered the arena. It makes sense, of course. Four survivors vs. Jason Voorhees. I'd say the teenagers are still very much out-numbered. Not much else is known about the game. No developer was named in the report.
So why are we running this at all? Who the hell is EGM's source? Well, it's none other than Sean S. Cunningham, the creator of the original film and long-time franchise collaborator.
He said about the upcoming game, which is set for an October 2015 release, "With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."
Cunningham says that a veteran game studio is helming the project, and that we should learn its name in the next few weeks.
More as we learn it.
