If you've ever wanted to see Hideo Kojima sneak past an online troll wielding a giant Facebook like button, then you're going to love this.

If you're tired of the battle between the auteurs of the video game industry and the corporations that fund them largely being a philosophical one, then perhaps you will be interested in this upcoming Kickstarter game that finally allows the creative types of the video game world to become proper action heroes.

It's called Dawn of The Devs, and, if you've ever wanted to see Hideo Kojima, Tim Schafer, and Cliff Bleszinski battle zombies, monsters, publishers, and other traditional video game evils, then you'll want to view it's debut trailer below:

Besides serving as a piece of tongue-in-cheek commentary on the state of the video game industry, Dawn of the Devsis also a 2D puzzle platformer game that requires players to utilize the unique skills of the game's main characters if they are to survive. For instance, Tim Schafer (known in the game as Tom Schiffer) is able to manipulate environmental objects just like the characters in his adventure games, Hideo Kojima (Hiro Komiya) can take advantage of certain stealth capabilities, and Cliff Bleszinski (Biff Klozinski) has a gun with a chainsaw on it.

From the footage that's been made available for the game thus far, it seems to resemble a modern-day take on the Lost Vikings franchise as, just as in that classic, you are required to switch between all three characters in order to utilize their special skills in a way that will allow you to progress past certain challenges and enemies that cannot be defeated by a single character. Regardless of which character you choose to play as, you'll no doubt spot a seemingly endless stream of video game references that parade past you in brilliantly rendered 2D.

Dawn of the Devs has currently received $9,685 of its $65,000 funding goal with 28 days to go. If you like what you see on its Kickstarter page, feel free to throw a few bucks its way and maybe even help add Gabe Newell and Shigeru Miyamoto to the game.
