Shuhei Yoshida is one of many who feel Sean Murray made too many promises.

During an interview with Eurogamer's Dan Silver, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida expressed his belief that a big part of the reason behind No Man's Sky's growing fan displeasure was Sean Murray's ineffective PR methods.

“I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one,” said Yoshida. "It wasn’t a great PR strategy, because he didn’t have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer. But he says their plan is to continue to develop No Man’s Sky features and such, and I’m looking forward to continuing to play the game.”

By PR strategy, Yoshida is referring to Murray's previous statements over the last couple of years regarding the various things that you'll be able to do in No Man's Sky. Since the game's release, fans have compiled a list of promised and presumed in-game features missing from the final version that include:

 - Planetary Physics

 - Meaningful Faction Reputation

 - Large Fleets

 - Player Interaction

 - Dynamic Creature Behavior

As for what Sean Murray thinks about all this, your guess would be as good as anyone else's. After trying to put out some of the fan fires that arose following the release of No Man's Sky (especially those related to the problematic PC version) Murray has gone quiet on nearly all forms of social media and has not given a significant interview regarding how he interprets the reception to the game or whether or not he, perhaps, made too many promises.

However, as Yoshida referred to in his statements, it is believed that Murray is hard at work on making improvements to the existing game which will hopefully restore some of the promised features and maybe even add some new ones. As for when these features may be added to the game, nobody from Hello Games has provided a release window as of yet.
