One of Final Fantasy's great creative minds appears to be working on a new mobile title.

While all Final Fantasy fan's eyes were focused on the game's rapidly approaching 15th installment, Square Enix stealthily sent out a tease regarding the franchise's mobile future.
Gematsu first spotted a recently launched subsection of the Square Enix Japanese website that contains the characters "FF_NEW" in the URL. This page currently displays "5 Days" in English while the Japanese text beneath that reads: "Final Fantasy is about characters filled with human appeal. About dramatic battles of anger and sadness. And more than anything, we should not forget that it is about fantasy."
It's certainly worth noting that the above text is attributed to Takashi Tokita; director of the all-time great RPG Chrono Trigger and lead designer on Final Fantasy IV.Throw in the Android and iOS logos included at the bottom, and it's safe to start assuming that we're five days away from hearing about the next Final Fantasy mobile game.
What's especially interesting about that possibility is that Square Enix is quickly running out of old Final Fantasy games to port to mobile platforms. Tokita's wording, as well as the websites audio and visuals, suggest that this will be a classic Final Fantasy experience, but there's nothing on that cage that specifically points to an older game.
If indeed Tokita is working on a new Final Fantasy mobile game, it will be the first classic-style new Final Fantasy title that he has worked on since the 2010 mobile game Final Fantasy Dimensions. In recent years, Tokita has been focusing on new endeavors for the company as well as mobile ports of old Final Fantasy games.
We will be sure to update you on this matter when the countdown ends in five short days.
