This stunning indie title will receive a wide release.
EA Originals, a division of the studio devoted to funding indie titles, have announced that they will be publishing developer Jo-Mei Games' visually striking adventure title, Seas of Solitude.
Initially revealed in 2015, Sea of Solitude managed to garner some early attention thanks in large part to just how good the game looks. Described by writer and creative director Cornelia Geppert as the "most artistic and personal project I've ever created,"Sea of Solitude features a hand-painted art style that often dynamically changes based on what is occurring.
The visuals may steal the show, but Sea of Solitude is no mere looker. Beneath its layers of style is a fascinatingly complex adventure game involving a young woman named Kay who has been transformed into a monster. She must now travel a flooded world with the help of her motorboat in order to confront fellow monsters and better understand what has happened to her.
According to Geppert, the goal is not to destroy the monsters in the world, but rather to find a way to coexist with them.
EA executive vice president Patrick Söderlund has stated that he is "stunned by the intensity of the imagery and the emotional view into the universe of Kay," and is excited to add Sea of Solitude to the EA Original lineup. At present, that lineup only includes Sea of Solitude and developer Zoink's Fe.
There's no release date available for Sea of Solitude at this time.
