Yooka-Laylee releases on April 11 for the XBO, PS4, Switch, and PC. A port for the Wii U was recently canceled.

Another trailer, meanwhile, reveals that a special guest star is coming to Playtonic's platformer: the blue adventurer, Shovel Knight. Another game funded by Kickstarter, Shovel Knight is one of the best retro-themed platformers of the past few years - and now its hero is set to appear in 3D form for the the first time.
Shovel Knight will be a non-player character in Yooka-Laylee, and will serve as a helper for the game's titular heroes for a mission or two. What's caught our eye, though, is developer Yacht Club Games' suggestion that we might one day see Shovel Knight get his own 3D plaformer:
Yacht Club Games designed and built the model itself while Playtonic rigged and animated it to life. Shovel Knight sure looks comfortable in a 3D world. Who knows... maybe one day we'll see Shovel Knight running and jumping around his very own 64-styled adventure!
