The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Release Date
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to release on March 3, 2017. The game is coming for the Switch and Wii U.
Nintendo confirmed on Twitter (via IGN) that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had been delayed to 2017 and that a Switch version of the game will coincide with that console's launch, which has also now been set to 2017.
"Though originally scheduled for 2016, the release of the latest The Legend of Zelda title is postponed until 2017, to allow further improvement of quality. Thank you for your understanding," said the tweet.
Nintendo added that "a [Switch] version [of the game] is also currently in development, to release simultaneously with the Wii U version."
Recent rumors have suggested that Breath of the Wild would miss its target date as a Switch launch title and would instead be moved to Summer 2017. While Nintendo hasn't said as much officially, Eurogamer reports that the Big N did consider the release date change, but has recently reconsidered. It seems that Nintendo has decided that the Switch needs to launch with the strongest line-up of games possible and that Breath of the Wildwill be their heavy hitter. The game may still be delayed in Europe, though.
