Injustice 2 Trailer

IGN released 15 minutes of gameplay featuring the characters that have been confirmed so far:

Harley Quinn and Deadshot will join the fight in Injustice 2. Check out their reveal below:

As previously suspected, the Injustice 2 team announced two more characters that will be added to the game's roster at their Comic-Con panel, and they are Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle.

Wonder Woman was a member of the original Injustice roster, while Blue Beetle is a new addition to the franchise. Although Blue Beetle's super strength and flight should translate fairly easily into the current game, it will be interesting to see how they implement his weapon creation abilities into the character's move set. It's also worth noting that the developers mentioned that it's unlikely Mortal Kombat's Scorpion will be joining the game, but that they are open to the possibility of incorporating a new character from that franchise.

Here's a trailer from the panel that showcases these two new characters in action:

Only a few days after the first announcement trailer for the highly anticipated sequel that pits DC heroes and villains against each other in a battle for control of the multiverse, NetherRealm has unleashed a first look at the actual gameplay:

The first trailer for Injustice 2 arrived earlier in 2016 and it introduced a new character into the fold—Supergirl will join the fight in this highly anticipated sequel! Check out the trailer below...

Injustice 2 Story

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk.

Injustice 2 Roster

Here are the DC characters we know for sure will be a part of the Injustice 2 roster:

Batman

Robin

Superman

Supergirl

The Flash

Aquaman

Atrocitus

Gorilla Grodd

Harley Quinn

Deadshot

Watchmen?

Ed Boon, co-creator of the all-time great Mortal Kombat series and creative director for the Netherrealm Studios, the group responsible for ongoing MK games as well as the DC Universe fighting game series Injustice, took to Twitter seeking feedback on new characters to include in the upcoming Injustice 2.

Boon asked fans if they'd like to see characters from the seminal creator rights cautionary tale Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons join the fighting game. Watchmen, the story of how one man's rigidity costs him terribly in the face of a world of moral relativism, was originally published in 1986 by DC under an arrangement that allowed the rights to the characters revert to the creators once the story went out of publication. Thirty years later, the book remains in continuous publication, spawned numerous prequel series, and is threatening to integrate into the new Rebirth continuity of the DC comic book universe.

These characters' inclusion in Injustice would be unheard of, and while the super move possibilities are endless (Ozymandias drops a giant squid on his opponent; Dr. Manhattan picks his fingernails while disintegrating his opponent; old Silk Spectre burps and her opponent, bathed in alcohol fumes, catches fire), their potential inclusion is sure to spark controversy.

We reached out to Alan Moore for comment, and will update the article as soon as we find a way to translate his response from the original backwards Sanskrit.

Injustice 2 Arenas

Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

Injustice 2 Details

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios, in a press release. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

In a post on the PlayStation blog, NetherRealm introduced one of those new features in the game (which you can see in the trailer below):

The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents. A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.
