LawBreakers Release Date

LawBreakers doesn't have a release date at the moment.

The game is no longer free-to-play, announced the developer at GDC 2016. His studio, Boss Key Productions, was quick to add after the presentation that the game won't cost $60, though.

The multiplayer first-person shooter will drop on Steam as a timed exclusive. No further details were shared about the game's appearance on consoles or other PC stores.

LawBreakers Trailer

During The Game Awards, Cliff Bleszkinski took the stage to introduce a new map and character class for LawBreakers. The new map is called Vertigo, and it's made up of a set of connected platforms high above the clouds. You're bound to go flying to your death more than once on this map. The new character class is Gunslinger, which Bleszinski described as an option for those hardcore gamers who want a more skill-based class.

Check out a new trailer below:

Developer Boss Key has released another video preview for their upcoming shooter LawBreakers that answers nearly everything you could ever want to know about the game's Assassin class. By sharing some tips on how to best play the Assassin, this video also reveals that this character is one of the most vertically gifted classes in the game and is quite the capable secondary support option.

Fans have been waiting for Cliff Bleszinski's new game, formerly known as Project Bluestreak, for quite a while. We learned a few more details about the first-person shooter today. Bleszinski revealed in a live stream that the game is officially called LawBreakers.

We spent some time with LawBreakers at PAX East 2016 and were impressed by the gameplay. You can read our full impressions here.

This next trailer is a bit more insane than anything else we've seen from the game thus far:

The video below is a compilation of various bits of gameplay footage from around the web, and while the edits are a bit jarring, it gives an idea of what Lawbreakers handles like. It all looks perfectly solid, though there's a bit less flying around than we'd expected from some of the pre-announcement descriptions. Maybe that's more of a feature in other maps.

Here's another look at the gameplay:

The game is set years after a cataclysmic event known as The Shattering, which caused the destabilization of gravity on Earth. The story picks up after civilization has rebuilt itself and learned to cope with the new laws of physics born out of the catastrophe.

Here is the announcement trailer:

Since gravity is completely messed up to our standards, jet packs, gravity fields, grappling hooks, and more will play a huge role in the shooter. Bleszinksi stressed, "You won't want to be on the ground."

The title comes from the two factions that will fight each other in the game. On one side are the Breakers, a group of criminals who traffic narcotics, and it's up to the Law, a combination of all the law agencies on Earth, to stop them.

LawBreakers is also going through a substantial art redesign, with the focus on giving the game a more mature feel. The game was originally unveiled as a colorful shooter akin to Blizzard's Overwatch

"We decided to take a step back and explore how we could dial up the maturity in LawBreakers, going back to our original vision," Bleszinski says. "The new look and feel embraces the innovative and vertical nature of our game elevated by violence, intensity and competition."
