The console is getting into the streaming game with an original docudrama.
Xbox is jumping into the streaming game with a project sure to excite gaming historians.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Xbox Entertainment Studios has picked up its first original show, which will be a documentary series from Oscar winner Simon Chinn (Man on a Wire) and Emmy winner Jonathan Chinn (American High). The project, which will explore different facets of the digital revolution, will open with an episode about the infamous burial of the 1983 Atari E.T. the Video Game. The series will available in 2014 for gamers with an Xbox Live account.
The docudrama is just the start for Xbox as the console company hopes to create a steady flow of content for its 40 million customers worldwide. The company is also working on a live-action TV series based on the Halo series, with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer. Xbox Entertainment Studio head Nancy Tellem told THR last January that XES would seek to host live events, reality, game shows, documentaries as well as scripted comedy or drama.
