Microsoft is considering slashing digital game prices!

Microsoft announced today that digital prices on Xbox Live may be cut. This measure would be part of a larger plan to revise their plan of attack in the on-going console wars. Microsoft did very well well in their second quarter -- sales soared 14% --selling over 3.9 million Xbox Ones since launch.

Microsoft's Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb jumped into a Reddit thread lamenting how digital downloads are often more expensive than retail offerings.

"We are way aware of this and many of the concerns of the community," he said, before reassuring commenters that competitive pricing is "on the agenda."

The race is still very close between Microsoft and Sony (sorry, Nintendo), and each company is undoubtedly trying to figure how to improve sales even more. Microsoft's proposed cutting of digital game prices could definitely be one way to do it. One of the main criticisms against the Xbox One is that its price tag is a bit steeper than Sony's, and this might hurt Microsoft in the long run.

They must be reading my mind, just the other day I was talking about how digital sales should be cheaper. They do not have to spend the money on the hardware and packaging and distribution, those savings should end up back in the consumers hands.
