Sony confirms Everquest Next is headed to the PS4. Planetside 2 port not forgotten, either!
Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley confirmed in a Reddit AMA that their new MMO, Everquest Next, would be available on the PS4. The news is a bit of a surprise since EQN had previously been described as a PC release. It's a very welcomed surprise, though!
Smedley did not offer up a release date for the MMO.
EQN will be free-to-play. Focused largely on world-building, the game will launch with user-generated content created in EQN Landmark, a precursor to the bigger release.
He also gave us an update on the much-awaited PS4 port of Planetside 2. Smedley said, "This year is what we’re shooting for. It’s taking time to do this right but coming along great."
The SOE president had previously described Planetside 2 as the "massively multiplayer Halo" for PS4. I wonder if this still holds true now that Bungie's Destiny is on its way. They might want to release Planetside sooner rather than later. Let's hope!
